Why Online Bookkeeping Matters for Small Businesses Bookkeeping is a crucial aspect of running a successful business. For small businesses, choosing the right tool ensures accurate tracking of income and expenses, saves time, and simplifies tax reporting. With many online bookkeeping services available today, we’ll introduce you to the top solutions in this post. 1. Excel or Google Sheets for Bookkeeping Many business owners underestimate the potential of Excel and Google Sheets as full-fledged bookkeeping tools, while others rely exclusively on them. As the saying goes, “To each their own.” One thing is certain—these spreadsheets are an excellent choice for both beginners and professionals. Let’s explore their pros and cons. Advantages: ✔ Full Control – You set up your bookkeeping in Google Sheets or Excel without subscription limitations.✔ Cost Savings – Unlike well-known accounting software (which we’ll discuss later), you only need a one-time purchase instead of monthly subscriptions.✔ Automation – Formulas calculate profits, expenses, taxes, and balance automatically.✔ Ease of Use – A simple interface that doesn’t require accounting experience.✔ Flexibility – Easily adaptable to any business type.✔ Data Visualization – Built-in formulas generate charts for better data analysis and insights.✔ Customization – You can order a unique spreadsheet tailored to your specific business needs: Order a custom spreadsheet.✔ Friendly Support – Includes text and video instructions for beginners, plus customer support for any spreadsheet-related questions. Disadvantages: ❌ No Automated Reminders – Unlike accounting software, spreadsheets don’t send automatic reminders for tax deadlines or unpaid invoices (however, this can be done by integrating a special add-on for Google Sheets).
